Speaking & Consulting
Mechanism first, then practice.
Talks and workshops built the way I write: one clear argument, the strongest evidence for it, the strongest evidence against it, and what to do on Monday.
Talks
Keynotes and sessions
For conferences, teams and professional groups. 30 to 75 minutes.
Workshops
For clinicians
Half- or full-day trainings on trauma, threat physiology and performance, built around matching the intervention to the level of the problem.
Consulting
AI in behavioral health
Practical, careful use of AI in practices and small organizations: documentation, psychoeducation and operations, with privacy and ethics built in from the start.
Talk topics
- Willpower is the wrong level. Why behavior follows conditions more reliably than effort, and what high-self-control people actually do differently.
- Load without recovery. How the same stress system answers a hard workout and a hard life, and what athletes can teach everyone else about recovery.
- Risk isn't destiny. What childhood adversity data predicts for populations, and why it predicts so little for any one person.
- Choking under pressure. Why skilled people fall apart when it matters, from the putting green to the operating room.
- Does the order of trauma treatment matter? The live debate over stabilizing first or processing first, and where the evidence stands.
Why me
I spent the early part of my career in genomics labs, then trained in sport psychology and counseling, and have spent the years since as a trauma therapist. I also build AI tools for behavioral health. Audiences get a scientist's standard of evidence and a clinician's sense of what actually happens in the room.
